Chromebook Pickup 7th and 8th Grade- If you did NOT pickup a Chromebook last week for your 7th or 8th grader, you may pickup tomorrow at the MS from 10-12 or 4-6. Good Morning BMS Spartan Families. An update on math placement testing for BMS students; BMS will host our math placement testing for students currently enrolled in on-level BMS mathematics classes wanting to take advanced mathematics classes. Tests will be held @ BMS by appointment only on 8/12 and 8/13. Please contact Rich Wallace, rwallace@bixbyps.org or 918-366-1705 to schedule an appointment or for more information. An additional opportunity for advanced math testing will be available after 8/17.

In association with the Oklahoma State Department of Education (OSDE) and it's partners in continuing education for Oklahoma teachers, parents, and students, BMS would like to share some resources for middle school aged students. Parents and students can visit www.everfi.com/register, use the registration code ab33f239 to join the BMS 2020-2021 class. This class includes the courses FutureSmart, Healthier Me: Middle School, and Ignition which cover a variety of content including nutrition, digital health concepts, and goal setting for middle school students. These courses, and participation in this digital class, are not required for any BMS student. Parents and students are welcome to participate at any level they wish. These courses are offered by OSDE and their partners to support the families of our State.

Chromebooks will be distributed at the Middle School for all 7th and 8th grade students (including virtual SCA) on Aug 4 & Aug 5. We will hand out devices in a "drive up" setting. Parents and students will not be granted access into the building. Reminder: Required paperwork must be received by 6:00pm the day before distribution in order to receive a device. Chromebook Paperwork Reminder- Your children will be receiving a school issued Chromebook this year. Distribution details/directions will be sent out on August 1st. If you want a sport that will help you get more than a medal, cross country is the one to choose. Why else should you join Bixby cross country? What If I can't run far or keep up? No one is born a distance runner - we gradually will Introduce running to you so It Is manageable and enjoyable. When are tryouts? August 3rd, 7:30 am at Bixby High School Track. When are Middle School practices? Official Summer practice begin after tryouts. Once school begins, BMS will practice 7:45-9 am at the High School then take the bus to Middle School. Can I start practicing early? Of course! I encourage you to start running a little every day to ease in to it. Can I play another sport while in Cross Country? While select athletes have pulled it off in the past, competing in two sports in the same season brings potential issues & risks. Two full sport workloads, decreased rest and recovery, less time for school work & not consuming enough calories are just a few reasons why. Not to mention injuries, missed games, missed practices, missed meetings, etc. that are sure to arise when one competes in two sports with overlapping seasons. For these reasons, we feel that committing to multiple sports during the same season is not best for the athlete or our team.
