Summer Reading Challenge Highlight!
We love when our teachers join in the fun—and this week, we're celebrating Mrs. Shaw! She traveled with a team to Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana to serve at schools, churches, and an orphanage.
While there aren’t many bookstores or libraries in that region, she did find a small book sale in Botswana 📖—proof that book lovers will always find a way!
Her team is also partnering with Light of Africa to help provide literacy training and materials to communities in need. ❤️ What an amazing way to share the power of reading around the world!
📸 Don’t forget: If you visit a library or bookstore this summer (near or far!), snap a photo and send it in to be part of our Summer Reading Challenge!

Huge shout-out to Judah and Levi, who stopped by the Fall City Library in Washington to dive into their summer reads—and their excitement is contagious!
📸Challenge Reminder: Visiting a bookstore or library this summer? Snap a photo of yourself outside and share it with Mrs. Tusia to earn your spot in the Summer Reading Challenge!
Keep exploring, reading, and sharing—let’s celebrate every page turned!

Why choose between books and adventure when you can have both? Eden (incoming 2nd grader) brought her love of reading along on her family vacation to California as part of our school wide Summer Reading Program!
She’s pictured here reading by the General Grant Sequoia—the largest tree in the world—in Sequoia National Forest, and soaking up stories by the Pacific Ocean in Carmel-by-the-Sea! Eden is loving joke books, Mo Willems, and of course, Gum Girl!
Whether you’re by a giant tree or the sea, summer is the perfect time to get lost in a good book. Keep reading, North readers!

We hope everyone is enjoying your summer break!! If you want to get a head start on back to school, here are the school supply lists for the 25/26 school year 📓✂️✏️

Summer Reading Challenge Roll Call!
Incoming 2nd grader Sam and his big sister Kate are keeping the reading fun going strong for BNE's Summer Reading Challenge! Every week, they love visiting the Jenks Book Bus and picking out a new book to enjoy. This week, Sam was extra excited to find a copy of their favorite — Gum Girl! 💥📖
Whether you're staying close to home or heading off on an adventure, don’t forget to snap a photo and send it to Mrs. Tusia to be featured! Let’s keep the reading going all summer long! ☀️📸🚍

Mrs. Tusia has been busy this week exploring bookstores and libraries all across New England as part of the BNE Summer Reading Challenge — and she found a gem she just had to share!
She visited An Unlikely Story, a one-of-a-kind bookstore in Plainville, MA owned by Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series!
Even better? She picked up a signed copy of one of his books to add to our library collection! 🖊️📖
Keep your reading adventures going strong — and don’t forget to snap photos of the libraries and bookstores you visit this summer and send them in to Mrs. Tusia!

📚☀️ Mrs. Tusia’s Summer Reading Challenge Update! ☀️📚
Zach explored Galveston and made a special stop at the Rosenberg Library — the oldest continuously operating free public library in Texas, with an incredible 125 years of service to the community!
📖 Cool fact: The Rosenberg Library isn’t just historic — it’s huge! It holds over an MILLION items including books, archives, and even historical artifacts from the Republic of Texas and early Galveston days. It’s truly a treasure trove for curious minds!
Way to go, Zach! Keep those pictures coming as you visit libraries and bookstores across the map. Let’s see where your reading journey takes you next! 🌎📷

📚☀️ Mrs. Tusia's Summer Reading Challenge is in full swing!

Mrs. Tusia’s Summer Reading Challenge is officially underway — and we have our first adventurer!
Meet Zek, who found a library in Cherokee, Oklahoma and kicked off the challenge in the best way — with a book in hand and a photo to prove it! 🥇📖
This summer, the challenge is to snap a photo at libraries or bookstores around the world. Whether you're traveling near or far, let’s see how many bookish places our readers can discover! 🌎📚📸
Way to lead the way, Zek! Where will your reading adventures take us next!?

BNE is hiring for a Special Education teacher! Spread the word and help us bring someone to join our amazing school!

Yesterday we had our final Woo Hoo Wednesday of the year! So proud of all of our award recipients for receiving awards for showing friendship and perseverance, fitness, coloring, home reading challenge, and kids heart challenge!

These students did something amazing—they showed up to school every single day this year! That means they never missed a chance to learn, play, and grow with their friends. We’re so proud of them for being here every day and making the most of every moment. Keep shining, and keep showing up!

Don't forget to pack your love of reading on your summer adventures this year! Join Mrs. Tusia on her hunt for libraries and bookstores around the world! Snap a picture of a library or bookstore while around town or around the world this summer and send it in (mtusia@bixbyps.org) so your visit can be documented! We will have a world map in the library to mark all of the cool places we visit when we return in August!!
Happy Reading and Happy Travels!

Come get your yearbook!!!

Right Meow, we need your help! 😾📚
There are over 80 overdue library books lurking in backpacks, under beds, on bookshelves at home, and possibly being used as makeshift coasters. Our end-of-year inventory process has begun, and we are going to have summer break before we know it! Students with missing books will be coming home with a fun scavenger hunt to help them with ideas on where to hunt for lost books.
All books are due back to the library as soon as possible. Any books not returned will have fines loaded onto My School Bucks on Friday. Please contact Mrs. Tusia at mtusia@bixbyps.org with any questions.
Be a purr-fect student—return your books right meow! 🐾

If you are a substitute teacher at any of our schools, ESS and BPS would love to celebrate you on Friday!
