Miss Charlotte traveled a whopping 8,823 miles around the world to Thailand this summer. This is our farthest-traveled reader yet! 🌏 Along the way, her family made a game out of spotting libraries and bookstores, discovering amazing places like Asia Books and the Public Library of Bangkok. 📖🏙️ WOW! How magical!

Summer Reading Bookstore Adventures! Griffin stopped by the cutest bookstore right on the shores of Lake Michigan, McLean & Eakin Booksellers in Petoskey, Michigan, as part of his summer reading adventures! Not only did he explore this charming shop, but he also showed amazing confidence by independently asking the bookseller if they had the next book he needed in the Pizza and Taco series! 👏 Way to go, Griffin! We love seeing our readers take charge of their reading journeys, even on vacation! 📖

Eloise took her love of reading international this summer with a special visit to a library up in Canada! 🍁📖 While exploring the great north, she made time to check out new books, explore a new library space, and continue her summer reading journey, even while on vacation. That’s the spirit, Eloise! 🌟 We love seeing our readers explore libraries near and far. Keep those stories (and stamps in your reading passport) coming!

☀️Summer Reading Challenge Update☀️ The Baker family checked off a big reading adventure during their vacation by visiting the Basalt Regional Library in Basalt, Colorado! Nestled near the Roaring Fork River, this library is as beautiful as it is inspiring—featuring massive windows, mountain views, and cozy spaces for readers of all ages. Did you know it even offers telescopes, camping gear, and board games to borrow? We love seeing our North families taking reading on the road! 💛📖 Keep those bookish adventures coming!

📚🌏 Summer Reading Around the World! 🌏📚 We hope everyone is having a relaxing and fun summer! One of our amazing kindergarten students, Lily, is currently visiting Osaka, Japan with her family and she’s keeping up with her summer reading in a very special way! As part of our Summer Reading Challenge, Lily explored the Kodomo Hon no Mori (Children’s Book Forest), a beautiful and inspiring library created just for kids to discover the joy of books. 🏞️📖 This summer, Lily has developed a special interest in insects and plants. She’s been enjoying books with detailed pictures and fascinating facts and she’s also made time to visit the library and book fair back home multiple times! Way to go, Lily! 🌟 Keep reading and exploring wherever you are this summer! 💛

BNE Summer Reading Challenge Update! Kinley and Wade enjoyed some great reads at a charming little bookstore in Rosemary Beach, FL! The name of this bookstore is so charming! Kinley and Wade say they've especially loved seeing all the photos of their school friends exploring libraries and bookstores around the country. They think it’s been so fun to follow along! BNE Summer Reading Challenge Spotlight! Hadley and Mrs. Shai found the cutest little bookstore tucked away in downtown Branson, Missouri! What’s better than a mom and daughter book shopping trip!? Goodness, BNE teachers and students clearly ❤️ reading and we love showcasing that love!

Summer Reading Challenge Highlight! We love when our teachers join in the fun—and this week, we're celebrating Mrs. Shaw! She traveled with a team to Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana to serve at schools, churches, and an orphanage. While there aren’t many bookstores or libraries in that region, she did find a small book sale in Botswana 📖—proof that book lovers will always find a way! Her team is also partnering with Light of Africa to help provide literacy training and materials to communities in need. ❤️ What an amazing way to share the power of reading around the world! 📸 Don’t forget: If you visit a library or bookstore this summer (near or far!), snap a photo and send it in to be part of our Summer Reading Challenge!

Why choose between books and adventure when you can have both? Eden (incoming 2nd grader) brought her love of reading along on her family vacation to California as part of our school wide Summer Reading Program! She’s pictured here reading by the General Grant Sequoia—the largest tree in the world—in Sequoia National Forest, and soaking up stories by the Pacific Ocean in Carmel-by-the-Sea! Eden is loving joke books, Mo Willems, and of course, Gum Girl! Whether you’re by a giant tree or the sea, summer is the perfect time to get lost in a good book. Keep reading, North readers!

Mrs. Tusia has been busy this week exploring bookstores and libraries all across New England as part of the BNE Summer Reading Challenge — and she found a gem she just had to share! She visited An Unlikely Story, a one-of-a-kind bookstore in Plainville, MA owned by Jeff Kinney, author of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series! Even better? 📚☀️ Mrs. Tusia’s Summer Reading Challenge Update! ☀️📚 Zach explored Galveston and made a special stop at the Rosenberg Library — the oldest continuously operating free public library in Texas, with an incredible 125 years of service to the community! 📖 Cool fact: The Rosenberg Library isn’t just historic — it’s huge! It holds over an MILLION items including books, archives, and even historical artifacts from the Republic of Texas and early Galveston days. It’s truly a treasure trove for curious minds!
