Introducing Mrs. Tosha Newsom! 💖
Tosha Newsom joins the West Elementary team as a Pre-K teacher, she was formerly a Kindergarten Paraprofessional. Mrs. Newsom is a proud graduate of Oklahoma City University and a Tulsa native.
Tosha believes in teaching with compassion, making learning fun and challenging students to set goals and achieve them. When not at school, you can find Mrs. Newsom camping and hiking with her family. 🏕️
Mrs. Newsom is so pumped to be joining the Bixby family as a teacher and we are MORE excited to welcome her to West in this role! ❤️💙

Katie Salyers joins the West Elementary team as a 1st grade teacher from Union Public Schools. Miss Salyers is a proud graduate of Oral Roberts University and an Ohio native. 👏🏻🍎
Katie believes in teaching students to LOVE learning and become lifelong learners. She believes that all students can succeed and implements high standards for herself and her students. When not at school, you can find Miss Salyers 📚reading, crafting, exploring new places, or with friends/family!

Next up for our introductions is Ms. Kristen Morrow!!
Kristen was born and raised in Tulsa, OK and this will be her 20th year as a Special Education Teacher! She is the proud mom of two kids: Jaxon, who just graduated from high school and will be heading to boot camp in the fall with the Army, and Addison, who will be a Sophomore at Bixby.
Ms. Morrow has two fur babies, Pete and Sage, who are both Labs. When not with family or her dogs, Ms. Morrow enjoys spending time with her friends doing anything outside, and she absolutely loves to travel!
Ms. Morrow is super excited to join the Spartan family and cannot wait to meet and love on her new babies! It's a GREAT day to be a Spartan!!
Introducing one of fabulous 1st grade teachers, Mrs. Justine Milburn! 👏🏻💖
Mrs. Milburn is ecstatic to become a Westie and we are just as ecstatic to have her! Justine has taught first grade for four years at Jenks and will be starting her fifth year in first grade at Bixby West! 🍎🍏
Justine has her degree in early childhood education from the University of Oklahoma. Boomer! While at OU, Justine met her husband Mac and now they have two fur babies Tux and Penny! 👏🏻
Mrs. Milburn aims to foster a lifelong love of learning and grow self confidence in children by maintaining a safe and positive learning environment. In her free time you can find Justine reading, gardening, crocheting, trying new restaurants with her husband, hanging with friends, celebrating others, and eating lots of sushi! 🍣🪴

Brooklyn Collins joins the West Elementary team as a Kindergarten teacher from Bixby North Elementary. Brooklyn graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelor's degree in Science of Education. 💚
Ms. Collins enjoys all the small moments in teaching and the little things she does to help her students grow. When not at school, you can find Brooklyn spending time with her fiance and their two dogs while enjoying the outdoors. Brooklyn is so excited for the fall, as she will be getting married to her fiance Trey!! 💍
Ms. Collins is looking forward to the new school year and joining the West family!! It's a great day to be a SPARTAN❤💙
We've been busy this spring and summer hiring the most amazing staff on the planet to join our West Elementary family. It's finally time to make some introductions! 🎉👏🏻
First up, we have Mrs. Jen Harrison who will be one of our special education resource teachers! 🍎 Mrs. Harrison lives in Bixby and is married to Ryan. The Harrison's have 2 children, Colin and Brynn. Jen grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Central Connecticut State University with her Masters in Special Education. In CT, she taught K-2 special education for 6 years. For the last 2 years she has been teaching 5-6th grade special education in Jenks.
The Harrison's are a lacrosse loving family and enjoy watching Colin play for Bixby and traveling on weekends with the travel lacrosse club throughout the year. Jen also stays busy with Brynn meeting up with friends from school and the Best Buddies program at West, they also love being part of the Special Olympics every year! Jen quickly became an OSU football fan 🧡when they moved here but still loves to watch and cheer on UCONN basketball. Mrs. Harrison loves reading, her Peloton, the pool, and spending time with family.

Today at Rise and Shine, we celebrated our Life Principle of the Month award winners for April! These students were awarded this for being dedicated! We also celebrated our Bus Riders of the Month (not pictured Madelyn and Calvin from Ms Fritz's class)! Congratulations to all of these amazing students!
We were privileged to celebrate two very special people last night at the Bixby Employee Appreciation Banquet, Derby Style! Congratulations once again to Meghan Glasscock, Site Teacher of the Year, and Melissa Chittenden, Site Support Staff of the Year! What a great night with this amazing staff!
Happy National Administrative Assistants Day to our "Office Aunties". They are the absolute best and we are so thankful for them!
We had a surprise announcement this morning at Rise and Shine! For the 3rd year in a row Bixby West Elementary is a Great Expectations Model School! So thankful for the hard work of our students and staff making this possible!
