We've been busy this spring and summer hiring the most amazing staff on the planet to join our West Elementary family. It's finally time to make some introductions! 🎉👏🏻
First up, we have Mrs. Jen Harrison who will be one of our special education resource teachers! 🍎 Mrs. Harrison lives in Bixby and is married to Ryan. The Harrison's have 2 children, Colin and Brynn. Jen grew up in Connecticut and graduated from Central Connecticut State University with her Masters in Special Education. In CT, she taught K-2 special education for 6 years. For the last 2 years she has been teaching 5-6th grade special education in Jenks.
The Harrison's are a lacrosse loving family and enjoy watching Colin play for Bixby and traveling on weekends with the travel lacrosse club throughout the year. Jen also stays busy with Brynn meeting up with friends from school and the Best Buddies program at West, they also love being part of the Special Olympics every year! Jen quickly became an OSU football fan 🧡when they moved here but still loves to watch and cheer on UCONN basketball. Mrs. Harrison loves reading, her Peloton, the pool, and spending time with family.

Today at Rise and Shine, we celebrated our Life Principle of the Month award winners for April! These students were awarded this for being dedicated! We also celebrated our Bus Riders of the Month (not pictured Madelyn and Calvin from Ms Fritz's class)! Congratulations to all of these amazing students!
We were privileged to celebrate two very special people last night at the Bixby Employee Appreciation Banquet, Derby Style! Congratulations once again to Meghan Glasscock, Site Teacher of the Year, and Melissa Chittenden, Site Support Staff of the Year! What a great night with this amazing staff!
Happy National Administrative Assistants Day to our "Office Aunties". They are the absolute best and we are so thankful for them!
We had a surprise announcement this morning at Rise and Shine! For the 3rd year in a row Bixby West Elementary is a Great Expectations Model School! So thankful for the hard work of our students and staff making this possible!

We celebrated our Music Teacher Ms. Weidman for the month of February and kindergarten teacher Ms. Sumler for the month of March!
