Meanwhile, in Mrs. Smith's Earth and Space class, students have spent Fridays learning about space exploration. They made their own version of a lunar module, complete with two mini marshmallow astronauts. Students tested their designs from the cafeteria balcony and from inside the school - even from the 3rd floor!
Students in Mrs. Smith's Environmental Science class modeled glaciers as part of the unit on surface water. They studied glacial features and how glaciers also shape the landscape. The miniature glaciers created features such as moraines, cirques, striations, outwash plains, U-shaped valleys, and they dropped "till". Students also used slime and oobleck to model continental glacial movement; they had to determine which substance most closely resembled how large ice sheets move across the landscape.
This #MeetmeMonday is extra special because Ms. Floyd is getting married on Saturday! Please show her some love and tell her congratulations!
