This past Saturday the Pride of Bixby Marching Band competed at the Owasso Invitational.  This is a highly competitive competition featuring bands from Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas.  In preliminary competition the Pride won their classification and swept the music, visual and general effect categories.  They then advanced on to finals in which they earned Grand Champion while also winning the music, visual, percussion and guard awards.  The Bixby Band staff could not be more proud of our students on their achievements Saturday.  They represented Bixby with class and dignity on and off the field for the entire day from 9am-Midnight.  We would also like to thank the army of parents, volunteers, bus drivers and BPS faculty for all of their help and support on the day of the event.  It was truly a great day to be a Spartan.

If you have not been able to see the show you can view a full dress run from last Thursdays' practice.  We will be performing the show this Friday as part of the halftime entertainment and our next competition is October 8th at Union HS.  You can also check out the band at the 14th annual Bixby Tournament of Bands (Saturday, October 1st) where we will host several bands from around the state and perform and exhibition of our show at 4pm.
