supt update

Spartans,

Please review the information below carefully. After reviewing data across the district relative to COVID cases and substitute coverage:

  • West Elementary, Central Intermediate, and East Elementary WILL REMAIN IN DISTANCE LEARNING through Wednesday, Jan. 19 with a plan to return to in-person on Thursday, Jan. 20.

  • All other sites will return to in-person school tomorrow, Jan. 18.

  • All grade PK-6 students who currently have a school-provided device checked out should keep it at home.

As a reminder, please review the information below relative to student isolations for those COVID positive and continue to notify your school site if your child is ill.

  • Although the CDC has updated their guidance to include a possible reduction of isolations to five days in some cases, the ten-day isolation for students at BPS will remain in place. As a result of recent legislation, the district is unable to enforce the masking requirement associated with the shortened isolation protocol. Therefore, all students who test positive for COVID-19 will be required to isolate for ten days and may return to school at that time as long as symptoms have improved and they have been free from fever for 72 hours and diarrhea and/or vomiting for 24 hours without mitigating medication.

While we are pleased to be able to return most students to in-person school tomorrow,  the COVID situation remains quite unpredictable. Families should continue to hope for the best while remaining prepared for quick pivots should the need arise.

Thank you,

Rob Miller

Superintendent
