Spartans,

As outlined in our previous message, ALL sites will transition to distance learning district-wide beginning Tuesday, January 11th. Given the number of absences we are experiencing, we unfortunately are unable to safely and effectively conduct in-person instruction. With Monday January 17th a school holiday, we anticipate a return to in-person instruction on Tuesday, January 18th. We will of course keep you apprised of updates over the next few days.

Details for Grades PK-6:

In order to allow sites to check out necessary technology, grades PK-6 will participate in Brick to Click on Tuesday 1/11 followed by distance learning beginning Wednesday 1/12.

At this time, PK-6th grade families should:

  • Keep an eye out for further communications from their site principal and classroom teachers.

  • Review the Distance Learning Guide and daily schedule for their student’s grade level. Those guides can be accessed here:

  • Prepare a plan for childcare if needed.

  • Be aware, your child’s teacher will be sending a follow-up email with details on distance learning schedule, etc.

  • Chromebooks:

    • Grade PK-6 students approved for a district-provided Chromebook for distance learning will be able to pick those up on Tuesday 1/11.

    • Families who will need a district-provided device can review that process here

    • Site principals will follow up shortly with more details relative to the pick up schedule.

Details for Grades 7-12:

  • Students will follow their regular instructional day on an abbreviated schedule (core classes and electives/extracurriculars).

  • Each period will be at least 45 minutes and up to 60 minutes with additional time via office hours as needed.

  • Students should tune into the Google Meet for each class at the beginning of each class period.

  • Tulsa Tech buses will run on their normal schedule.

Other:

  • Meals: families who wish to take advantage of our free breakfast and lunch service for Bixby students can pick up meals at any school site from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM each day during this period.

    • Please ensure you have your student’s 5-digit ID number if picking up meals at a location other than their home site. If needed, the front office can provide you with this number.

  • Student medications: medications held in the school nurse's office may be picked up by the parent or guardian if needed. Please call the school during regular school hours to make arrangements. A picture ID will be required to pick up medication.

  • Review the options/locations for free wi-fi access throughout our community if needed.

  • Remember, all things Technology Support at BPS can be accessed here.

Please let us know if you have other questions.
