1/22/26: Update

Spartans,

Thank you for your patience as we continue to closely monitor the weather.

Based on the most current forecast, we will be IN SCHOOL and IN PERSON tomorrow. Current projections indicate that weather impacts will hold off until early evening, and because tomorrow is an early release day, we are confident we can hold school and get everyone home safely.

Additional details:

  • Students:

    • Don't forget your coat! Tomorrow’s temps will be very cold!

    • PK–6 students who have a site-provided device should follow guidance from their individual school. They will communicate directly with families to let you know whether you should bring it back to school tomorrow or keep it at home.

    • Devices that are returned will be sent back home on Friday as a precaution in case next week brings a multi-day closure and distance learning becomes necessary.

  • Staff:

    • All PLC meetings are cancelled.

    • Staff are encouraged to head home as soon as all students are safely dismissed.

  • Friday Evening/Weekend Events:

    • All Friday evening and weekend events are cancelled effective Friday at 2 PM.

We will continue to monitor conditions closely. Looking ahead, if school is closed on Monday, it will be a traditional snow day. We will communicate a final decision regarding Monday by Sunday at 6:00 PM.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we prioritize safety while maintaining instructional time.

1/21/26: Initial Message

Spartans,

Given the range of current forecasts, it is highly likely, but not certain, that the district will experience a school closure on Friday and into next week.

We want to provide as much information as early and transparently as we can.

At this time, our plans are:

  • If a closure is needed, all students will participate in distance learning on Friday, January 23.

  • However, as we have learned from previous storms, even a slight shift in timing or precipitation type could allow us to remain open.

  • Families should begin preparing for childcare if needed.

  • The district will make a final decision regarding the status of school on Friday by Thursday at 6 PM.

  • To ensure students are prepared, PK–6 students who have completed the device checkout paperwork will be bringing devices home on Thursday.

  • PK-6 families who have not requested a device for Distance Learning and need one can do so here. Required paperwork must be submitted by Thursday, January 22, at 8 AM.

  • If a closure is necessary on Monday, January 26, it will be a traditional snow day.

Recognizing that additional winter weather closures may still be needed later this spring, this approach helps keep our last day of school as scheduled.

Should a school closure be necessary, announcements will be communicated by 6 AM (earlier when possible) via:

  • Text

  • Email

  • Push notification

  • Website

  • All local news outlets

Thank you for your flexibility and partnership,

Lydia Wilson
