The Power of a Post

It’s truly amazing the impact a simple post on social media can achieve. There are pros and cons to this world, for sure, but it’s instances like this that remind us of the power of social media and more importantly, the generosity and compassion of our school community.

Central Intermediate Principal, Brenda Shaw, reached out via Facebook in the hope of helping students with overdue lunch accounts. At CI alone this issue was affecting over 100 students at times and in many cases, teachers were pitching in to make sure students could enjoy hot meals at school without worrying about the status of their lunch account. Just one day, and over $500 later, once again, our community has stepped up in a BIG WAY! Even the news media took note and now many are asking how they can help other school sites relieve this burden!

If you would like to spread some joy this holiday season and are able to help with a cause as worthy as they come, you can donate via check made out to "Bixby Public Schools." These can be submitted at any school site! Donations can be directed to a specific school or to the district level and our wonderful staff at Child Nutrition will get to work on filling these needs! Unfortunately, the donation links we had set up previously via My School Bucks are experiences some glitches.

We’d like to extend our sincerest “THANK YOU!” to Mrs. Shaw, for sharing her compassion for each child’s individual needs as well as to our school community for their generosity in stepping up when our kids need it most!

Happy Holidays, Spartans!
