District-Wide Distance Learning Day: October 18th

Spartan Families,

On October 18th, 2023, we will be conducting a district-wide distance learning day. With Sophomores on campus to participate in the PreACT assessment, and all other secondary students already participating in a virtual day, this provides the perfect opportunity for a district-wide practice day.

Why is a DL Practice Day Needed?

Our primary goal is to ensure that both students and educators are well-prepared for any potential distance learning needs that may arise throughout the academic year. While we have always cherished the traditional "snow day," it's important to acknowledge that there are instances where distance learning can prove to be valuable. Should we experience a significant amount of inclement weather this winter, we intend to maintain our school calendar and ensure that the last day of school remains intact.

This practice day will allow time to practice procedures and familiarize staff and students with distance learning expectations and the tools necessary to facilitate learning in this setting. The insights gained from the practice day will enable us to refine our strategies, address potential challenges, and leave us well prepared moving forward.

Chromebook Needs for PK–6 Students:

For families with students in grades PK-6 who may require a school-issued Chromebook for any distance learning days, it is important to request and complete the necessary insurance paperwork by October 13th. More information on this process can be found here. Completing this request will ensure a Chromebook is sent home with your student prior to any scheduled or foreseeable distance learning days.
