As a district, ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and visitors remains our top priority. With this commitment in mind, I am pleased to inform you that the district has recently acquired a state-of-the-art weapons detection system through the safety grant money approved by our state legislature last spring.
This equipment enables us to enhance our safety protocols, primarily during large athletic events and as necessary at our school sites should the need for heightened security arise. While it is our sincere hope that such occasions are infrequent, we believe that proactive measures are essential in maintaining a secure environment for all members of our school community.
It is important to emphasize this is not indicative of any specific threat or concern within our schools. Rather, it reflects our proactive approach to ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone within our educational community.
In the coming weeks, our staff will undergo comprehensive training on the proper use and operation of the metal detectors. Additionally, we will provide information to students and families on what to expect when attending large events or if metal detectors are deployed on-site for security purposes.
