Activities at Bixby Middle School

Student Council  The BMS Student Council is a volunteer organization for leadership and service to our school and community. Any 7th or 8th grade student may apply for membership, but all members must remain academically eligible. Open enrollment is during the first month of school with election of officers following.
Gifted and Talented Organization  7th and 8th grade students who currently qualify through state and federal standards are eligible for the gifted program.
Middle school gifted students are served in four ways: Pre-AP placement and honors classes, enrichment study trips that coincide with classroom objectives, academic and artistic competitions and contests, and community service.

National Junior Honor Society The BMS National Junior Honor Society is an organization open to 7th and 8th grade students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Our members will perform individual and group service projects in our school and our community.
Students may apply for membership by completing a candidate application which will be reviewed by a faculty committee for compliance with established criteria. All members must maintain their eligibility in all areas of the criteria, attend regular meetings, and perform a required number of volunteer hours. Winter Guard Winter Guard is open to BMS band members who are interested in participating in color guard performances during the winter months. Tryouts will be on November 29th and 30th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the middle school cafeteria. Rehearsals are mandatory and will be on Mondays and Thursdays. The JV squad rehearses from 3-5 p.m. and the Varsity squad rehearses from 5-9 p.m. The cost for Winter Guard is approximately $300 per participant.
