7th grade Math students let their imaginations fly and transformed pumpkins into pineapples, carriages, gumball machines, donuts, ducks, and more. Ms. Girard asked her students to take their materials--a pumpkin and whatever else they could lay their hands on--and turn them into something entirely different. These transformations are practice for students' spring project when they build boats out of cardboard and tape, another task that requires students to look beyond the items that they're given and see what they could be.
