Pippi Longstocking Goes to School

After spending the first three weeks of school doing a novel study on Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren, Mrs. Leutsch's class wanted to celebrate the culmination of their hard work in a very special way. The students tried out for roles in a brief reader's theater skit and spent a week preparing the set for three scenes and practicing their lines. Using inferences from the novel, they determined how they pictured Pippi's front yard, kitchen and school house. The students read with emotion and performed it Monday afternoon before their families. Attention to detail was a must and our characters that dressed up as animals even came in full costume! Parents, students and teacher alike, all thoroughly enjoyed these 4th graders interpretation of the timeless classic Pippi Longstocking.
