Hello CI Parents, this is Principal Brenda Shaw. First, let me again thank you for a wonderful start to the new school year. Our before and after school drop off and pick up is getting faster every day!! We love being outside to greet the students and parents each morning as well!! I have a couple of reminders for you tonight.

First, today in your child’s Thursday packet, they received Leadership Club Applications. At CI, we have several different opportunities for students to participate in different clubs. Some of these may meet during the school day, before or after school, or even at recess. They are a lot of fun for our students and the kids get lots of opportunities to show great leadership. If they have a particular club they’d like to participate in, please have them fill out the application. They must have a parent’s signature and their teacher’s signature as well. Then, it must be turned in to their teacher BY AUGUST 30th!! That’s next Thursday. Part of being a leader is showing responsibility, and so we do not take late applications, so please make sure your child completes the application and returns it as soon as possible!

Our fall fundraiser kicked off today. Those students participating are selling Spartan Bracelets. The bracelets are very pretty and very reasonably priced. If the students sell ten or more bracelets, they will receive a bracelet for free along with a ticket into the Video Game Truck that will be coming to our school. We hope all of our students will participate as this will help our school purchase stools for the science lab, along with more Chromebooks for our kids to have in class. All orders and money are due September 7th.

If your child is in the sixth grade and was here last year, they also received an Aspire test summary report. Aspire testing is the benchmark tests we give to insure students are making adequate progress throughout the year. The data from these tests allow us to see if a child is on track for taking and passing the ACT as a junior in high school, as the State requires. These tests are not for a grade.

Finally, please note that next Friday, August 31st, we will have no school as it is a professional day for teachers. The following Monday, September 3rd is Labor Day, so there will be no school on that day as well. Classes will resume Tuesday, September 4th, and that is the day of our Parent Orientation Night that will begin at 6 pm that evening. Thank you so much for your time. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office. And remember, it is always a great day to be a Spartan!
