Positively Charged in 4th Grade!

Students in Mrs. Bowman's 4th grade class spent the week learning about all forms of Electricity, including static electricity.  Students learned about positive and negative charges and what happens when there is a connection between opposite charges. Students tested a variety of different objects to see what would stick to a balloon that had been charged with static electricity.  They really enjoyed this hands on activity and learned which items would attach with static electricity and were even surprised by the ones that didn't.

Students in Mrs. Leutsch's 4th grade class also studied forms of energy. Further exploring electrical energy, these 4th graders were ready to apply knowledge gained from online resources such  as YouTube videos and an electricity web quest. Students learned about charges and series circuits vs parallel circuits. After the lesson students were diving into the lab with enthusiasm and expertise. Given nothing but the kit and directions, they had 45 minutes to make it work. This unit left students feeling positively charged!
