Dear CI Families,

It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that we share some sad news. This morning we found out that one of our teachers here at CI, Max Hammontree, died in his home. We do not have any other details at this time. We do know that as a family we will take care of and support each other.

This morning we had several extra counselors and administrators on site to support teachers and students and we’ll continue to utilize additional support; including counselors from the Grief Center. And we will utilize them as long as our CI family needs!

Certainly we are prepared to support Mr. Hammontree’s family, students, and CI friends.

With that being said - the one thing we can predict about childhood grief is that it is unpredictable.  So I’m attaching some resources that might be helpful so please talk to you child as you see fit and certainly listen to your child for any questions or concerns they may have. Please do not hesitate to reach out if we can help in any other way. Everyone handles grief in a different manner, and it may show up in different forms.  So, we will offer any support needed to all the students and staff as the need arise.

If we can support you or your child in any way, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Thank you so much.
