Parents: Drop off in the morning and pick up in the afternoon is tough at the beginning of every school year. We seem to have more traffic this year. However, it will ONLY get better if you come from Mingo onto 161st so we have one way traffic. The entrance into the car rider drop off/pick up line from 161st must be RIGHT TURN ONLY. Two way traffic on 161st is causing back ups at the entrance into the line because people are turning left. This has also caused some buses to run late because they were trapped in traffic. Because the traffic is backing up, kids are also coming in late. We recognize coming from Mingo is out of the way, however, if everyone followed procedures you would make up more than that time because the line would go faster. We must have your cooperation to help this situation.
We have also seen kids being dropped off on 161st and allowed to run across the parking lot to the building. This is so unsafe!! Please do not do this.
Parking behind the building or in the golf parking lot is also not okay. We have a special needs bus that drops off and picks up back there, along with parents of special needs students. Students also must have access to the Golf parking. We also have walkers going and coming. Traffic in that area is strictly prohibited.
We know the struggle, but if everyone will follow the procedures the lines will move much quicker and drop off/pick up will be much smoother. Thank you.
